Welcome from our Chair of Governors, Mrs E Haddock

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am writing to you to inform you of the arrangements we have made, with the help of Manchester Local Authority, to have strong temporary leadership in place at Temple Primary School for at least this term.

I am delighted to be able to share with you that Mick Beresford will become Acting Headteacher from Monday, January 23rd 2017 for a minimum of one term.  Mick is currently Executive Principal of both Harpur Mount and Aspinal primary schools in Harpurhey and Gorton, alongside another school that is out of area.

Mick will lead Temple Primary School four days each week, with the exception of Fridays, when Ms Talib will act on his behalf.

He brings a wealth of experience to the role, and is a specialist in rapid turnaround of schools and outcomes for children, having moved both his other Manchester schools from below average attainment and progress to now being in the top 10 Manchester primary schools (out of 145).

Aspinal moved from 26% Level 4 Reading, Writing and Maths in 2014 to 100% one year later with the same staff team in place.  Harpur Mount and Aspinal are now in the top 10% of schools nationally for progress in all of Reading, Writing and Maths.

His most recent work has involved supporting a school further afield that was placed in Special Measures in February 2016.  By July 2016 the school had risen above the DfE's floor measure and is now in the top 25% of schools nationally for Writing and Maths.

I am sure you will want to join me in welcoming Mr Beresford to the school and wish him well in his task of leading the school on this temporary basis.
